What’s special here is that the staff is happy to provide tips for dinners that you are making such as the Savory Beef Short Ribs and will walk you through how to accompany the entrees, too.
South Lyon Hotel, 201 N. Lafayette St., (248) 437-6440
This unique eatery originally was built in 1867, making it 155 years young. When the train pulled into town, people from the local hotels would flock down to the train station to encourage passengers to book into their lodging. It eventually was turned into a restaurant that sadly was damaged in a 2016 fire. After the hotel re-opened in 2017, Co-owner Corry Bala said they worked hard to incorporate as much of the building’s history as they could.
The South Lyon Hotel has tantalizing mouth-watering entrees ranging from Filet Oscar to pasta and shrimp – imagine slurping it like the pups in love in Disney’s Lady & The Tramp!

The Huron Valley Trail is a 12.5-mile walk/bike ride affording views of Michigan’s stunning beauty, regardless of the season. Visitors can start the trail in McHattie Park, hang a left on Park Place and follow the trail to Kent Lake which will lead you to the Huron River that offers views of the deep ridge. It’s a perfect excuse to get outside, breathe in some fresh air, and appreciate nature with someone you love. A perfect Valentine’s Day lunch date: You pack a lunch, grab your skates, head over to the Novi Ice Arena, lace ‘em up, and pretend you’re in the 2022 Winter Olympics as you and your partner glide across the ice. The arena offers open skating Monday through Friday, from noon to 1:50 p.m. Either enjoy your lunch before or after your routine. Or head over to Maisano’s Italian of Novi, for it’s Chef’s Special: Sausage Baci Al Forno – Spicy ‘kisses’ filled with Italian sausage, romano, parmigiana, baked with meat sauce, and mozzarella. Romance is always in the air at this Italian spot!
