Pantone’s Colors of 2021, gray and yellow, one neutral, one trendy.
If you are thinking of decorating your home with its 2021 palette, the level of commitment to either color is completely yours for the taking! Pantone chose as its two colors: number 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and 13-0647 Illuminating Sunny Yellow. Gray represents humanity’s resilient attitude and yellow gives a nod of optimism toward the days ahead.
Adding fresh new colors into your house is an easy way to give a room a modern facelift. We suggest grays for the features that will stay with you longest – like tile around a fireplace, the color of a new sofa, or even painted on the living room walls.
Using Illuminating (Yellow) for pops of color in accessories makes it a breeze to change when you tire of it. The good news is both colors go well with last year’s color trend, Classic Blue 19-4052, so adding them doesn’t require a complete style overhaul.
Pops of yellow in Illuminating is cheerful, like the center of a daisy or the freshest lemons – a bowl of citrus on a table near a yellow throw pillow can make a picture worthy setting. Or, place a vase of bold yellow daffodils on a living room table with Ultimate Gray on the wall behind it.
The little things often make the biggest differences. Know that staying on trend doesn’t mean you have to stay limited to yellow and gray.
If you prefer richer tones, Pantone’s spring 2021 palette includes fun shades like #14-1140 Iced Mango which also pairs well with gray. The palette also introduces brighter and deeper mauves, salmons and pinks – shades more vivid from the soft pinks we’ve seen over the past five years. Consider, for example vivid lavender/mauve, 14-2116 Fairy Wing.
If you really want to make a statement, you can go for a pink-salmon sofa with yellow pillows near darker walls. Do what brings you joy!
Have fun with these cheerful 2021 colors!
